Yesterday I decided to take a quick spin up to the Bolinas Water Treatment Ponds and was rewarded with a wonderful selection of migratory shorebirds. Amongst the numerous Short-billed Dowitichers, Western and Least Sandpipers, Dunlin and Killdeer were about 45 Semipalmated Plover. These adorable birds are a nice touch to our local fauna! #189. This evening, while locking up the gallery a feeding cloud of Cliff Swallows were adorned with three Vaux’s Swifts. These zippy “smoky cigars” weren’t more than 30 feet over Wharf Road and were enjoying the numerous flying insects, provided by Bolinas. #190.
